Onshape is a cloud based CAD software system and has been operating since 2012. users are able to interact with the system using a web browser or phone app. This allows teams to collaborate on a single shared design. There are no need for upgrades as Onshape upgrades are released directly to the web interface. Project files not only hold your models and assemblies but you can also link documents, sketches and photos within the same file.
A professional account is $125 per month this includes.

PRO ENGINEER (PTC Creo)
Pro Engineer called Creo sence 2009 is part of a suite of design packages that provide solid modelling, assembly modelling, 2D orthographic views, finite element analysis, direct and parametric modelling, sub-divisional and NURBS surfacing, and NC and tooling functionality. This was the first PLM software I ever used way back in 1994. Creo 4.0 is now available since 2016. some of its features include
- Additive Manufacturing
- Augmented Reality
- Model Based Definition
Which is better? Well its like Coca–Cola and Pepsi each software has its own ways of doing things and if you are comfortable with the tools in one particular package you will sing their praises. A good point to remember when choosing a software is its dominance and influence in the particular industry you work in, This effects the number of experienced users and available component libraries.
CAD /PLM SOFTWARE TRENDS
Pay as you go Cloud based and mobile access seems to be the a major trend with all the leading developers launching web based applications or web versions of their CAD software. Traditional 2D Drafting tools remain an important consideration with the majority of users still place a lot of value on 2D functions. there is an increasing demand from manufacturing companies for CAD/CAM integration. PLM product life cycle management is stepping up a level as cloud based data management systems will begin to change how PLM systems can be implemented and used across different departments of your organisation. There is also an increasing trend towards downloading and sharing of 3D models and components.
